Constantiaberg is a popular area in the heart of the beautiful
Cape Peninsula south of the City of Cape Town.
Rich in history, Constantiaberg gets its name from the
mountains that lie to the west of the area and form its westerly boundary.
The slopes of the Constantiaberg mountain are in part a nature reserve and in
others cultivated forests or vineyards including the world famous Groot
Constantia wine estate. The exclusive
Constantia residential
area dominates the Valley and runs to the east until the suburb of Plumstead is
reached which with the M5 motorway forms the easterly boundary of this area.
To the north are the Southern Suburbs of
Cape Town, the closest being the Bishopscourt, home to most of the diplomatic
residences, and Wynberg.
To the South lies the scenic beauty of the Sandvlei lake and the
areas of Kirstenhof and Lakeside which together with Marina da Gama straddle the
border between Constantiaberg and
False Bay. The
popular green and leafy suburb of
Tokai is a jewel but is
rivalled in popularity by
Bergvliet and Meadowridge.
